Utility Meter

This block allows you to calculate and show energy, gas, water etc. consumption on the user interface. It works with pulse meters or meters that give you a consumption value.

INTRODUCTION

The utility meter block allows you to take the output from a pulsed meter and record the consumption to then use all the different outputs of the utility meter block in the program. For example you could use the value for this month’s consumption and send it in an email to yourself.

The function block shows total and current consumption but also has lots of other values, which are listed on this page in the overview.

The utility meter block is shown in the user interface and statistics can also be enabled.

BASIC SETUPS

CONNECT METER INPUT TO TRIGGER

The pulse output of your meter needs to be wired to a digital input of the Miniserver or an Extension. In Loxone Config you then need to connect this digital input to the Trigger (Tr) input of the Utility meter function block.

You now need to define how many pulses per unit of measurement your meter produces. This information will be found in the manual or data sheet of your meter.

CONNECT METER INPUT TO COUNTER

The pulse output of your meter needs to be wired to a digital input of an Extension in this case. It is important that to use a digital input on the Counter input of the Utility meter function block that you set the input type to be used as a frequency counter and this can only be done on Extension digital inputs. To set the type in Loxone Config simply tick the box called ‘Frequency counter’ in the properties of the digital input.

Then you need to connect this digital input to the Counter (C) input of the Utility meter function block.

You now need to define how many pulses per unit of measure your meter produces. This information will be found in the manual or data sheet of your meter.

CONNECT A SMART SOCKET AIR POWER AND ENERGY

The Smart Socket Air provides energy and power consumption that can be used as inputs in the config file. You can connect the power input to P, and the energy input to E on the Utility meter block to then measure the consumption of the Smart Socket.

More information about the Smart Socket Air can be found on our documentation page about the setup.
